Meagan Chigozia Anukwuem is an exciting, well-trained Professional Makeup Artist who is receiving applause and notoriety as she maneuvers around the city of Houston. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, to an American born mother and Nigerian born father, Meagan is the second oldest of four girls. An alumni at Prairie View A&M University Meagan received her Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications with a minor in Sociology, Meagan discovered her love for people and received her calling to make them see themselves as God’s beautiful canvasses, while studying the social sciences.
Meagan was introduced to makeup at an early age, when in 1996 she was exposed to the industry through her mother, who was a Mary Kay consultant. Meagan would always join her mom at her Mary Kay meetings; and was always curious. A lover of art, Meagan began to express herself through bright colors. Then as early as middle school, Meagan always was the go-to-girl when it came to hair and makeup. She would apply makeup on all her friends for school events, parties etc. She was no stranger at the MAC counters, getting her own makeup done for special occasions.

Education
Meagan's love for makeup grew deeper as she graduated high school and entered college. That love manifested itself into Meagan moving full throttle to become a Professional Makeup Artist. In June of 2011, after extensive research, Meagan found the perfect makeup school in Houston (Modern Makeup Society; www.modernmakeupsociety.com). Her makeup instructor, Mya James (owner of MMS), introduced Meagan to the makeup industry, taught her business strategies, exposed her to different makeup brands, and provided internships where she learned the proper techniques of a "Full Face" makeup application. After completing MMS Meagan took the plunge; diving into the deep ocean of the genre of makeup artistry.
Special Effects
She began branding herself; building her kit, while constantly practicing on different skin tones and ethnicities. In 2012 Meagan took an even deeper plunge and began experimenting with special effects makeup. Special effects makeup include Halloween/theatrical makeup. Meagan started by teaching herself. However, when she saw that it wasn't as easy as it looks, she sought formal instruction in bringing forth the best in her talent. Currently, she also considers herself a special effects makeup artist and plans to continue formal training in her makeup career.
She has networked and branded herself under the name, "MakeUpByMeagan" and with hashtag, #MeaganDidIt, on her social media. Always pushing the latest trends with makeup, Meagan noticed that hashtagging allowed potential clients to connect with her on her social media page. At the end of 2012, Meagan along with her sisters came up with the hashtag #MeaganDidIt, as something, catchy, simple, and original. Meagan's hashtag has caught the eyes of many potential clients, who have become returning clients, and is one of the reasons why her business is booming. Everyone wants to be able to say, “#MeaganDidIt.” Meagan has applied, time, work, study, and excellence to her brand, working with a number of well-known, respected Houston makeup artists, photographers, fashion shows promoters, wedding planners, expos; and finally, working the "My Black is Beautiful" booth at the essence festival.
